A2 - Personality Conveying Routines - Swimming

"so yeah, I had a day off last Friday, so I decided to go swimming for the first time in 13 years"

"do you know that gym near Tara street?"

"and before I was in doing some work in the gym, and in there, the gym looks out onto the pool, there are these big floor to ceiling windows, so you can see what's going on in the pool"

"So i haven't been near pool for years right, so I'm check out the people swimming, mostly seniors, but there was this one skinny guy, so I was watching his form, how he was swimming, watching his head and when it put it under the water and when he took breaths etc. - I've been training for years, competing in kickboxing, running half-marathons, so I was all like.... fuck....easy....no big deal."

"there were two lifeguards on duty, one guy and one girl - and I swear...they must have been wondering about me ..... watching me check out this dude in the pool"

"so anyway, afterwards I did get into the pool and I couldn't do nuthin. there was no way for the life of me I was swimming that day. All I could do was get used to breathing in and putting my head under water and opening my eyes. So so I could get comfortable. Like imagine, this 6ft guy standing, just out of the gym, in like 4ft of water. too scary to let go of the rail!"

"every so often I'd slip or I wouldn't feel right, or for some reason my body would try to take a breath under water, and I'd just shoot up like a rocket"

"so afterwards anyway, I was walking around over and past the lifeguards they were on a bench looking out over the pool, the girl wasn't looking at me at all, so I stop a few feet in front of the guy, and he turns his head and looks up."

"'so, swimming lessons it will be then'"

A2 - Personality Conveying Routines - Ghost

"so yeah last year, I was paid to go over to Baltimore with the company I worked for over in London, it was all to do with computers and stuff."

"so Baltimore has this extensive history going back to the 1700's right.....and I was staying in touristy hotel...... Baltimore is really cool, it's kinda like Dublin, it's not the biggest city there, or the best, but it just has a lot of charm to it, some really nice little places, a total girlie date place."

"and so in this tourist hotel there was a ghost - an actual .....*living*..... ghost"

"this chick right, was paid to dress up in 1700's clothes, you know, that old fashioned apron maid look.... dress out to here....wearing 6 layers of clothes.....and she was there to haunt the hotel - she was there to keep the tourists happy, explains where things are and generally be helpful"

"I was staying there for about 3 slow long weeks, you know when you don't know anyone and you're friends aren't around, things just seem so boring. There were times I was getting so stir crazy, I just wanted to go out and get to the gym, there was a wicked gold's gym there, it was awesome."

"so there were these surreal moments.... where it was just me and this dressed up ghost ....... sitting in the breakfast room decorated in 1700's style, with little orniments and old pots and pans hanging up everywhere.......the sort of ones you'd put over the fire.... with big ass handles on them...."

"and we'd be sitting eating breakfast in the morning, this flipin pale ass Irish guy and a 1700's ghost. Course I'd try to chat to hear, find out where she's from, if she likes the place, what college she goes to, that sort of thing. Not once did she snap out of her character."

"Like can you imagine going back in time and telling yourself, 'Hey Shane, a month from now, you're going to be in Bailtimore chatting up a 17th century ghost.'"

"I didn't have a digital camera back then so I don't have any photos, but it would have been so cool to have some"

A2 - Personality Conveying Routines - Before Swimming

[with opener]

"hey guys, real quick, I got a day off work next Friday and I want to do something I've never done before, something fun, I need to know what's suitable to wear for swimming, speedos or trunks?"

"I did the whole 'new years resolutions' thing and listed wanted to do and where I wanted to visit, and I made a list. I put it away, janurary came and I just got stuck back into work... and that piece of paper was never to be found again. Just recently I was re-reading one of my favourite books and found it there, I was like 'oh yeah, I remember this'"

"The last time I tried to swim was when I was 13 and was terrible. I remember being in the shallow end and feeling the currents of the pool push be gentle into the deeper end, and I was standing up on my toes trying to keep my head above the water. "

"Oh and getting water in your eyes and up your nose, yuck! anyway, so I never learned. Oh it was just so scary when you're new to something."

"So I wrote down to do it this year and haven't yet, just been such a busy year, traveled a lot, but seeing as this is going to be the last day off in work for a while so I'm gonna dive right into it ....it's a nice pun I know."

"Course now, I have to buy swimming trunks, that's the first thing."

A2 - Personality Conveying Routines - Trinity

"Since coming back I've been telling myself I must go and see the book of kells but when I was with my buddy, we were walking around trinity sometime in July and it was really sunny, just so nice"

"We went into subway just across the road and got one of those 12 inch rolls in there, I always feel so healthy after eating in there, so we went out and were sitting in that big green just inside the ages, really sunny, sun just beaming down while eating our rolls sitting on the thick grass there you could almost smell it"

"Students walking around all grungy ....as they do... - and we were checking out the foxrock daddy girl hotties as they went by. Thinking what we could do next, 'oh hey let's check out which page the book of kells is on' - 'oh cool yeah let's do that' - getting all excited about it, so we stand up and walk over at 4.35pm - and there's a big sign on the door, 'closed' place was closed at 4.30 on a saturday!"

"you gotta love ireland."

"With me, I find you never really spend the time to get to know a place when your living there. I was in London before, have you ever lived outside of Dublin?"

A2 - Personality Conveying Routines - Small Cafe

[A brief word of warning, this one may not be too suitable for chicks, but it's fun all the same, this is real life but it's a story I am working on to improve the general gist of things so that it's impact is far more powerful]

"So get this, I went into a cafe because one of my girlie buddies was moaning saying I never go to small nice cafes, only big places like starbucks and barnies and places like that ......impersonal places."

"So I decide, fine, I'm opened minded, I'll show her. So I go to this small cafe just around the corner, nice place, small, waitresses and owners sort of look at you, as if to say 'is that all your going to buy' ....just a coffee. So I'm chillin and reading papers, and a bunch of guys come in too, they sit in the corner. I'm in my own world, reading papers, thinking stupid Zsofia - what the hell does she know."

"It's getting late(ish), and the cafe is empty .....which I don't like because I still only on my 2nd coffee - and feel like I'm taking advantage of the place.... so I get up to leave anyway and the waitress comes over to me, she's kinda cute, smiles at me, hands me the receipt ....as I just paid... and under it a hand written note."

"I have a sorta 'wow really, thats straight forward of you' look on my face and I look into her eyes, she looks back into mine and there's that moments pause where the two of you are just looking at each other - and I'm just about to open my mouth to ask her where's she's from and my lips just part slightly"

"then she quickly turns her head, looks over and says '....it's from one of the guys that was over there...'"

"...last time I go to a small cafe! no more I tell ya!"

A2 - Personality Conveying Routines

I tend to run stories that have happened to me most have happened years ago and some don't even have a valid 'punch line' but are more expressions of my personality than anything.

I'm getting into the frame of mind to simply knock these out talking to people and I've noticed that I am beginning to be able to 'think' about strategies as I tell the stories, I'm also getting to the to the point where I can talk to people and lead them into a direction so that I can smoothly link into a story.

This is all of course covered within the whole 'canned material' section of the eBook and what I like about having little stories is that if there is a lull in conversation, you can open a new 'thread' and go into a story and then jump back to another one.

Some of my stories I've noticed aren't suitable for chicks for building up attraction and other times I've noticed when telling guys the same stories is that they get bored of the detail, where as girls tend to love it. So I'm learning things as I go.

A1 - Default Club Opener

This is going to be my default line while walking from set to set and a HB7-8 makes eye contact with me. Only HB7's tend to make eye contact with me and I've had few that have actually maintained it while I 'AFC' style walked past them. So now I'm going to use it and make a habit of walking around to purposely get AI (Approach Invitations) and later to open the sets up that contained the HB.

It's nothing special but paves the way for something more.

[Walking Through a Club]
(HB initiates eye contact / maintains or any other AI)
PUA: Hi, I'm just about to pop over and meet my buddies here. Are you going to be staying here long? (no smiling)
GIRL: Yes.
PUA: I'm Shane (go to shake hands)

I don't particularly like this opener but it's simple, easy and default.
